Discover Your Path in Backstage and Technical Careers  with this free, entry-level 6-week Backstage & Technical Training Course, in partnership with Creative Futures (Lewisham Music and the Albany), is designed to give you practical skills and real-life work opportunities in the live events and tech industries with a particular focus on Sound Engineering, Mentoring and Work Experience opportunities.  

What You’ll Learn:  

– Gain a broad understanding of working in venues 

Health & Safety Essentials: Manual handling, PPE, and working at heights.  

Cables & Connectivity: Coiling, taping, and setting up sound systems.  

– Lighting Basics: Stage lighting design, programming, and troubleshooting.  

– Mixing Desks & DJ Gear: Hands-on sound mixing and DJ equipment setup.  

– Microphone Techniques: Setting up, positioning, and troubleshooting sound issues.  

– Live Event Preparation: Collaborate as a team to run a real showcase event.  

Each session is packed with hands-on activities to help you build confidence and develop skills that employers in the tech industry value.  

Please Note:  This opportunity is aimed specifically at people aged 18-30. We are particularly interested in applications from Black and Global Majority individuals as this is an under-represented group in the industry.
